“If you want to be heard, put on a mask!” At Sotheby’s Art auction in London on October 5, 2018.British graffiti artist Banksy’s “Girl and Balloon” made its final appearance, selling for 1.042 million pounds. As everyone screamed and clapped, the painting suddenly rang. The Girl and the Balloon, in plain view, was cut to pieces by the cutter built into the frame. But that didn’t detract from the artistic value of “Girl and Balloon.” It only made Banksy’s art more popular with the rich.

Three years later, Girl and Balloon, renamed Love in a Trash Can, reappeared at auction for sale.

It sold for 18.5 million pounds, which translates into about 150 million yuan.

It’s hard to imagine that an artist’s doodle could fetch such a high price at auction.

Banksy, a maverick artist, does not cherish his work as much as other painters.

In 2018, he took to the streets to hide his identity and sell his works for hundreds of pounds each.

But all afternoon, there were few takers.

Not only does he behave differently, he hides his identity in the dark.

To this day, Banksy’s true identity is unknown to anyone other than his former agent during his 30-year career.

In this way, he hid in the dark, playing with the “people” for fun, but finally ascended to the altar, by thousands of people worship.

Today we’re going to talk about the legendary life of Banksy, one of the most eccentric artists of all time.

Somewhere along the way, all kinds of paintings began to appear on the streets of London.

Some of them are painted on the wall, some are spray-painted on the ground, Bridges, garbage cans, rollers in front of the road roller…

There are few things that cannot be a curtain for this mysterious painter.

On the painting, there is almost no information about the artist.

Just beside it, in big English letters, was the word “Banksy”.

The artist seems to be expressing his ideology with his paintings.

He spoke up for the underdog and against neoliberalism and capitalism.

He opposed the war, sympathized with the victims, and fought for environmental protection. With his own power, he fought against this unfair world.

It didn’t take long for Banks’s name to spread across Britain, even as his identity remained a mystery.

No one knows his true identity, except that his work first appeared in the 90s and was popular in Bristol.

The rebellious style soon won the fanatical pursuit and pursuit of local young people, but also let people find business opportunities.

Merchants began buying large quantities of paintings at Banksy’s pop-up shows and selling them online.

Robin Barton, the first businessman to be consulted, snorted when young men approached him with Banksy paintings.

“What third-rate artist created this”?

On that basis, he refused to buy it.

He was reminded that, in a matter of months, Banksy was being sold for ten times as much.

As Banksy became famous, he became more and more self-indulging, and he no longer limited his art to a small painting.

But to make them into three-dimensional works, to express their own artistic form.

Banksy’s most famous performance art is Dark Disney.

He planned a dark version of Disneyland, where everything was reversed, full of secrecy and gloom.

Here, the house is dilapidated and there are models of dead bodies everywhere.

Refugees capsized and drowned, and the staff looked dejected.

Banks seemed to sneer with a smile.

“Don’t you understand? This is the story behind Mickey Mouse and Sleeping Beauty. It’s a living reality!”

Dark Disney is a true reflection of Banksy’s style.

He likes to use the method of metaphor, the history of unknown things, naked in front of the public.

As a result, his art was opposed by many “elites”.

After 2000, Banksy’s art began to hit the streets of the United States, and overnight his work appeared all over New York.

Banksy’s fans went absolutely crazy, pouring into New York from all over the world to search for the graffiti Banksy had hidden on the streets.

All of New York was turned into Manx’s one-man show, which was a huge hit.

So much so that the mayor of New York had to stand up and berate Banks for his unethical behavior.

“Banksy’s behavior has seriously affected traffic policing in New York City. It is self-serving and does not deserve to be called art at all!”

In order to end the drama quickly, the mayor even sent a large number of police, started a citywide manhunt for Banks.

Because graffiti is illegal in New York City. For a while, Banks became a big name in New York. The media, the government, the police and fans all want to find Banks. Journalism student Quigg Williams is one of them.

And he was so close to finding out who Banks really was.On January 28, 2016, Quigg Williams went to see the rock band Shock in concert.

During the concert, Quigg learned that both “Shock” and Banks were born in Bristol. Could there be a connection between the two?

Quigg, inspired, immediately began investigating.

Quigg found that Banksy’s work and “Strong Strike” were always “coincidentally” appearing in the same location.

In 2006, for example, Banks released action figures into Disney Park in Los Angeles dressed as Guantanamo Bay detainees.

At the same time, “Shock” was playing a concert in Los Angeles.

The same thing happened in 2008 and 2010.

Shock frontman Rob Denagar attends the premiere of Hurricane Katrina’s “Save Us” in New Orleans in 2008.

Around the same time, Banksy’s works began appearing on the streets of New Orleans, including one of police officers robbing a mall.

This is almost the same idea expressed in the documentary “Save Us”.

In addition, “Strong Impact” also performed in a way that was similar to that of Banks, showing images of refugees in concert.

Banks is also a big supporter of refugee issues.

The two sides coincide in many ways. Is it possible that Robert Denaja is Banks himself?

Quigg felt that he had almost discovered the truth of the world.

However, shortly after the uproar, Robertson denied that he was Banksy at a concert in Bristol.

“We’re all Banksy in life”!

Fans also noticed that in October 2014 Banksy’s painting Girl with Ruptured EarDrum appeared in Bristol,

The night before, Strong Impact was playing a concert in San Francisco.

It was impossible to go from San Francisco to Bristol and paint a whole painting in one night.

Quigg’s investigation, therefore, was completely rejected by the public.

Is it true that Banks, as his fans claim, has come and gone without a trace, as if he were not a legend?

Not really. In fact, Banksy never tried to hide, and his paintings were done in public.

It’s just that everyone ignored him and didn’t connect it to Banks.

Mr. Lazarides, Mr. Banks’s former manager, has said.

“Banksy never works at night, but during the day”.

“He’ll be all kinds of people doing his thing in public”!

Between 2003 and 2005, Banksy wore a trench coat and infiltrated eight museums to put his paintings on the walls.

All the while, no one, other than the cameras, caught a glimpse of Banks.

He simply disappeared from public view.

Before each creation, Mr. Lazarides would take to the streets in various costumes, planning, rehearsing and arranging for Mr. Banks.

Sometimes he would pose as a maintenance man and stand in the middle of the road with a no go sign.

Behind him, Banksy was painting on a wall with spray paint.

That’s how he always gets the public’s attention.

In Port Talbot, Banksy painted “A Snowy Boy” to attack local industrial pollution.

After the painting was created, many people stopped to look at it, including media from all over the world.

There is much speculation as to which local factory is being mapped in the painting.

So much so that the local factory in Port Talbot, for a long time to come, is going to be a lot more low-key.

No longer dare to emit excessive toxic waste gas and dirty water full of toxins in the eyes of the public.

Greatly alleviates the problem of local environmental pollution.

Later, when the house with the picture of a Snowy Boy was demolished, a wealthy man paid £100,000 for the wall.

He then put the wall up for auction, where the proceeds increased tenfold.

This is what happens when Banksy doesn’t take care of his work.

Banksy did not like to paint on paper, and his paintings can be found everywhere in Europe and New York.

So it’s easy for someone to extract it and send it to auction.

The first to spot a business opportunity was Barton, who once painted a picture on the wall of his Kent deli.

Barton tore down the entire wall and sold it to the market for a large profit.

That’s enough money for Barton to buy two more delis of the same size.

After this, Barton began to roam the city, whenever he found a Banksy painting, he would contact the owner to buy the wall.

In this way Barton became one of the most successful businessmen in Kent.

But that’s not what Banksy wants. He doesn’t want his paintings stained with money. He wants the public to think for themselves.

He once gave the public the chance to make money from their paintings.

In 2018, Banksy took to the streets posing as a street artist to paint live and sell her work.

Each painting costs between 300 and 500 euros.

As a result, no one but the two men bought his paintings for a whole day, and very few people even stopped.

Banksy hasn’t sold any of his paintings since.

But collectors are self-righteous, and the less Banksy wants them to buy, the more they want Banksy’s work.

And so the first thing happened.

Early after painting “Girl and Balloon,” Banksy had his agent install self-destructing devices on the frame.

As soon as it is successfully sold, it will trigger, and then automatically destroy.

But to his surprise, after the painting was destroyed, it became even more popular with collectors and eventually sold for 150 million yuan.

After that, the public’s perception of Banks began to change.

Obviously, Banksy is part psychologist, and he knows full well that the more radical he is, the more popular his work will be.

As a result, he always presents his works in a unique way after creation, elevating them to heights that do not belong to them.

“Girl and Balloon” is one of them, and at $150 million, how much money will Banksy make?

What, more and more people are wondering, was the real Banksy?

With that in mind, Metro reporter Martine Berg Olsen once again set out to find out who Banks really was.

The final result was the closest VW had come to Banks.

During her research, Ms. Mattenbergholsen discovered that Banks had made a documentary called “Talent Outside the Gallery.”

It’s been a bit of a buzz. It’s been nominated for an Oscar.

Banks insisted on anonymity during filming and distribution,

But big things like making a movie, no matter how hidden, can leave clues in the execution.

If you want to make money, you have to register the company, and the money will always flow.

So Martineberg Olsen decided to start with the production company.

Talent From Outside the Gallery was made by a film called Delusion Films.

Check its annual returns, and you’ll find that all the production staff, all of them, are from a company called Pest Control.

The company specializes in certifying Banksy’s works, verifying whether the paintings are Banksy’s and issuing certificates accordingly.

Delusion Films is one of its companies.

A search of the company’s annual report revealed that it also had a company called Paintings on the Wall Limited.

Check the company’s annual reports, and we find the sole owner, a man named Jamie Hewlett.

Jamie Hewlett, founder of the band Street Fighter.

Banksy’s work can often be found in the band’s music videos.

Jamie Hewlett is almost certainly Banks himself.

Street Fighter is not made up of real people, but a band made up of animated characters.

The style of the band is similar to that of Banks.

Among other things, Ms. Mattenbergh found a video of Mr. Banksy painting the room himself.

In comparison, Banks’ face in the video, which is identical to Jamie Hewlett’s, is almost certainly the same person.

But soon after the news broke, the claim was again denied by Hewlett herself, and Banks’ identity once again became a mystery.

In fact, whether fans guessed his identity correctly or not, Banks would deny it and even deliberately put up smoke bombs.Just do it, not for two reasons.First, he was afraid of reprisals for his stance, so he hid his identity to better protect himself.Second, he did not want the public to ignore his ideas because of his identity. As he himself said, “If you want to be heard, put on a mask”!Of course, there are few words with more uplifting power than a famous person who hides his identity.
